PART THREE: GOD IS ABLE

I call this my ‘GOD is ABLE’ revelation. You’ll often hear me muttering that ‘God is able’ in every circumstance I come across—even when it hurts. I recite it. I remember it. God is able.
a·ble/ˈābəl/
Adjective:
- Having the power, skill, means, or opportunity to do something.
- Having considerable skill, proficiency, or intelligence.

Often we say: ‘I am not able to stand this any longer. I’m not able to physically endure this race. I’m not able to forgive right now. I’m not able to determine what I am meant to do with my life. I’m not able to endure this illness. I’m not able to cope with this loss. I’m not able to persevere through this fight. I’m not able to get done all the things I need to get done. I’m not able to make ends meet.’
‘I am not able’, be it a whisper or a shout, is a realisation in a desperate time that makes us feel like little tiny specks without a hope, promise or future.
I know the feeling of not feeling able. I have felt unable in many physical challenges (I’m not the strongest person), and I have felt it while enduring the loss of a loved one to cancer (‘I am not able to live without her’). We all feel unable. It would be great if we could find a way from being unable to able – a cure or miracle elixir.
Oh the sweet relief, though, when you realise that you don’t NEED to be able because GOD is able!
There’s a song by Hillsong United called ‘Even When it Hurts’. The lyrics go:
“Even when the fight seems lost, I’ll praise you.
Even when it hurts like hell, I’ll praise you.
Even when it makes no sense to sing,
louder then I’ll sing your praise.”
This ability to sing, shout or lament praise to God, comes from the founding revelation that He is able. But even if He doesn’t come through with my wishlist, my praise, my worship, my adoration, belongs to God.
These are some scriptures I’ve meditated on over the years during the ‘hurts like hell’ seasons. Sometimes I have gotten a miracle, sometimes I haven’t. But these (and other truths equally as important) have maintained my faith and kept me going. I hope they help you!
GOD IS ABLE: TO DELIVER
Daniel 3:16-18 NKJV
If that is the case, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and He will deliver us from your hand, O king. But if not, let it be known to you, O king, that we do not serve your gods, nor will we worship the gold image which you have set up.
GOD IS ABLE: TO KEEP YOU FROM STUMBLING
Jude 1:24-25 NKJV
Now to Him who is able to keep you from stumbling, And to present you faultless Before the presence of His glory with exceeding joy, 25 To God our Savior, Who alone is wise, Be glory and majesty, Dominion and power, Both now and forever. Amen.
GOD IS ABLE: TO GIVE YOU ALL YOU NEED
2 Corinthians 9:8 NKJV
And God is able to make all grace abound toward you, that you, always having all sufficiency in all things, may have an abundance for every good work.
GOD IS ABLE: TO RECONNECT YOU
Romans 11:23 NKJV
And they also, if they do not continue in unbelief, will be grafted in, for God is able to graft them in again.
GOD IS ABLE: TO RE-ESTABLISH YOU
Romans 25-27
25 Now to Him who is able to establish you according to my gospel and the preaching of Jesus Christ, according to the revelation of the mystery kept secret since the world began26 but now made manifest, and by the prophetic Scriptures made known to all nations, according to the commandment of the everlasting God, for obedience to the faith27 to God, alone wise, be glory through Jesus Christ forever. Amen.
AND IF YOU THOUGHT THAT WASN'T ENOUGH…
Ephesians 3:20-21
Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us, to Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Amen.
So the next time you think: ‘I just am NOT ABLE to do this anymore’, remember that your faith may feel weak, your hope may seem lost, but our God can help—even if you don’t know how. And to HIM be the glory.
