Hebrews 11:17 (NIV) [bible-link v=”hebrews+11%3A17&version=NIV” c=”light”]
By faith Abraham, when God tested him, offered Isaac as a sacrifice…
Abraham had a close relationship with God. He had grown accustomed to hearing His voice and following every instruction He gave.
However, I would think that when God asked him to sacrifice his only son, the son that was promised, Abraham’s humanness would have paused to check, “Did I hear that right? Is God really asking this of me?”.
Often, God can ask us to give up something that is precious to us in order to test our faith and how genuine it is.
I honestly believe that faith that isn’t tested, isn’t faith at all.
Abraham had a sincere faith. He was prepared to obey God and trust Him completely in this test, even if it would cost him his beloved son.
Am I prepared for my faith to be put to the test, whatever the consequence?
God is looking for people with this kind of faith, who say, “No matter the cost, whatever test you want to give me God, I will continue to trust You”.
