Many years ago, I invited a guest to share with a group of students about their experience in the Philippines. When it was time for questions, one young man asked what the difference was between churches in developing nations and churches in developed nations.
I’ll never forget her answer. She said, “The way you pray. When hard times come, those in countries like Australia often pray, ‘God, take this from me’. However, we pray, ‘God, give us stronger shoulders to carry this weight’”.
When we go through tests, it’s easy for us to get overwhelmed by the pressure and look for an ‘out’.
But God has an ultimate plan. He wants us to live in freedom and victory, and offers us the master key that unlocks this kind of life: complete and unwavering trust in Him.
We can trust His love for us.
We can trust in the power of His redemptive plan.
We can trust Him with our earthly lives and our eternal future.
