Day 4 – In Its Time

To everything there is a season, a time for every purpose under heaven…

Ecclesiastes 3:11 (NKJV) [bible-link v=”Ecclesiastes+3%3A11&version=NKJV” c=”light”]
He has made everything beautiful in its time.

It’s no secret that I love spending time in my garden. I’m certainly no master gardener, but thoroughly enjoy planting, nurturing and seeing something new flourish.

Among my many favourites, some of the best plants in our backyard are the magnolias. They are deciduous, look great all year round, and when they flower – they are incredible.

Gardening is all about timing. Wise gardeners know not only what to do, but when to do it. They understand when to plant and when to prune, when to water and when to wait.

Everything has its perfect time.

I believe King Solomon knew something about timing. As appointed King over Jerusalem, he led the people with divine wisdom, continually observing how mankind responded to life’s seasons.

Left to ourselves, we are often our own worst enemies. When we’re discontent with our season, we either attempt to move through our season prematurely and stunt healthy growth, or we linger too long and cause severe damage.

Solomon encourages us to remember there is a perfect timing for everything. A season is just that – a season. It will have a start and an end, and both of those time junctions are appointed by God.

How might you learn contentment in whatever season you find yourself?

Our loving Heavenly Father so desires you to not only grow, but flourish into everything He has for you, all in His perfect timing.
