1 Corinthians 1:2 (VOICE) [bible-link v=”1+Corinthians+1%3A2&version=VOICE” c=”light”]
…to God’s church gathering in the city of Corinth. As people who are united with Jesus, the Anointed One, you have been set apart for service. You are all called into community to live as saints with all who invoke the name of our Lord Jesus, the Anointed.
Have you ever been in a public setting, maybe a shopping centre, or an airport and over the P.A. system, you hear your name being called out? There are not too many of us that ignore that address, however, if it is someone else’s name, we go about our normal business.
There is something powerful and impacting about being ‘called out’. When I consider the apostle Paul’s words in 1 Corinthians, I believe this is what he was saying to those that are called out to gather or assemble together as a community.
There is nothing natural or normal to this; it’s a spiritual phenomenon. The church community is like no other. Whilst, in other communities like sporting or hobby groups, we make the choice. In the church community, God makes the choice for us.
I often marvel at all the different and diverse people that call Civic home, and how it is by no accident that God has brought us all together.
Let me ask you these questions:
How will you respond to being called out to be part of the spiritual phenomenon known as ‘the church’?
In what ways does being part of the church community impact your life?
